Textiles represent around 6% of household waste, and recycling textiles can
save up to 15 times the energy needed to put them into landfill .
For example, in order to produce 1 kg of cotton around 6,000 liter of water
are needed ,so recycling clothes can save huge quantities of water .
Furthermore, textiles present many environmental problems when sorted in
landfill : synthetic fabrics do not decompose , wooll produces methane when
it decomposes, which contributes to global warming and climate change.
